Recognizing anxiety attack symptoms at the onset can allow the sufferer to diffuse the situation before it can develop into a full blown attack.
To successfully overcome an anxiety attack you need to be in charge of your thoughts and actions though if you are unaware of what's happening you're more likely to lose control and start panicking. Once this happens it is very likely that the attack will get worse and spiral out of control, this can continue until either you decide to overcome the attack or completely succumb to it. Choosing to do nothing should not be considered an option as the sufferer is likely to experience more attacks in the future and with greater intensity.
Symptoms of an attack vary from person to person but can include sweaty palms, restlessness, shallow breathing, trouble focusing and discomfort or tightening of the chest. Anyone experiencing two or more of the above symptoms may be having an anxiety attack.
